Healthy Meals & Snacks (CACFP)

Nourishing Growing Minds and Bodies

At Bright Hands Academy, we believe healthy eating is an important part of every child's growth and development. We proudly participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which helps us provide nutritious, balanced meals and snacks that support healthy habits and active learning.

Our meals meet USDA nutrition guidelines and are carefully planned to give children the energy they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the day.

What's Served Each Day?

Children receive nutritious meals and snacks while in our care, including:

  • Breakfast

  • Lunch

  • Afternoon Snack

Fresh drinking water is available throughout the day to help children stay hydrated.

Balanced Nutrition

Our menus include a variety of wholesome foods that encourage healthy eating habits, such as:

• Whole grains

• Fresh fruits and vegetables

• Lean proteins

• Low-fat or age-appropriate milk

• Healthy snacks

We offer meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable, helping children explore new foods while developing lifelong healthy eating habits.

Supporting Healthy Development

Good nutrition plays an important role in children's overall well-being. Healthy meals help support:

• Brain development

• Physical growth

• Strong bones and muscles

• Energy for active play

• Healthy eating habits

• Focus and learning throughout the day

Accommodating Children's Needs

We understand that every child is unique. We work closely with families to accommodate documented food allergies, medical dietary needs, and other approved dietary requirements whenever possible to help ensure every child can safely participate in mealtimes.

Family-Style Meal Times

Mealtime is more than just eating—it's an opportunity to learn and connect. Children are encouraged to:

  • Practice good table manners

  • Develop independence

  • Try new foods

  • Build social skills through conversation

  • Enjoy meals together in a warm, welcoming environment

These everyday experiences help children develop confidence and positive relationships with food.

Learning at the Table

Mealtime is also a learning opportunity. Children practice communication, independence, sharing, table manners, and trying new foods while enjoying meals together.
